Get ready to elevate your budgeting game! This session serves as a follow-up to our Budgeting 101 session held in early February. Let the excitement continue as we put all of our learned knowledge together and begin to build our budgets for 2024/2025—create a detailed program-based budget, project cash flow, and dazzle your Finance Committee and Board with a presentation that reflects your synagogue's vibrant vision and financial vitality.

About the Speaker:

Elena Gary, a native of San Francisco and an alumna of the esteemed University of California, Berkeley, holds degrees in Social Welfare and Religious Studies, laying a solid academic foundation. After a successful tenure in the for-profit sector spanning several years, Elena redirected her career toward non-profits in 1990, specializing in accounting, finance, and strategic planning.

Elena's professional journey includes serving as the Chief Financial Officer for three prominent religious organizations. Notably, she contributed her financial acumen to a large Buddhist meditation center in Marin and a sizable Methodist Church in San Francisco before dedicating the past 17 years to her current role as CFO at Congregation Emanu-El.

With a fervent passion for sharing knowledge about non-profit finance and accounting, Elena leaves an indelible mark on those eager to learn. Her commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond the workplace, reflecting a deep dedication to the non-profit sector.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Elena finds joy in personal interests. In her leisure time, she embraces the outdoors through hiking, captures moments through photography, and explores the scenic wonders of Sonoma, her home for the past two years. Elena Gary seamlessly combines her professional dedication and personal fulfillment, making significant contributions to the non-profit sector and the community she calls home.
